Tower Hamlets KONP arranged their local protest to Save their Surgeries. This is another insidious government attack on the NHS. This time local General Practitioners.
I did not catch them during their walk to all their local surgeries, but I managed to join them at Kingsley Hall where over a hundred people, both local and friends. had a rally and discussion night.

The Nye banner will start from St Katherine’s practise, Nightingale House, Thomas Street- opposite Nesham Street and near to Waitrose.

GP Surgeries across Tower Hamlets will be joined by patients, the community and other local health workers on the protest on Thursday 5th June against cuts in general practice funding and in the NHS locally. While 5 local practices are severely affected by the ending of the specific Minimum Practice Income Guarantee funding (MPIG) everyone is seeing services shrinking and waiting lists growing and 28 practices have already ordered the banners ‘Save our surgeries’ with NHS logo and Nye Bevan who founded the NHS on them.

The protest starts at St Katherine’s Dock Practice at 230 and ends with a rally at Kingsley Hall in Bow at 6pm, with major speakers now confirmed, Among other speakers, the rally was addressed by
Lord David Owen local resident and opponent of the 2012 Health and social care bill,
Dr Louise Irvine Lewisham hospital campaigner and National. Health Action party candidate,
and Candy Udwin Whittington hospital campaigner and chair of London keep our NHS public.
The person presenting the speakers is Jackie Ashbee, local GP, Tower Hamlets BMA & Tower Hamlets KONP.
