Mike Freer MP About His Campaign Against Squatting
When: 11:00am – 6:00pm Friday 22 of November
Where: 4 Ballads Lane and Granville Rd
This Friday, squatters, community members and housing campaigners will demonstrate outside Mike Freer MP’s constituency office in Barnet. The demonstration is response to the recent violent eviction of the Bohemia, a popular squatted social centre nearby. The demonstration is also a call for an immediate repeal of section 144 and full adequate investment in social housing rather than criminalising the homeless.

Mike Freer, who represents Finchley and Golders Green, said he was “pleased” by the change in the law which took effect on Saturday. Squatting in residential buildings in England and Wales has became a criminal offence, punishable by a maximum fine of £5,000 or a prison sentence of up to six months.
