GOLD MINING IN GREECE: STORIES OF RESISTANCE AND REPRESSION.
For some reason, the police decided not to cordon off one side of the street for the protestors. Instead, they allocated the pavement across the street, which was too narrow and inconvenienced the local residents. The demonstration ended up spilling onto both sides of the street and then the police arrested two of the protestors for allegedly breaking section 14. None of the protesters had known that a Section 14 was in place.
Police woman informing me that people are only allowed to demonstrate on one side of the street. That protesters have permission to have a demonstration on one side of the road.
Designated zone for the protest.
Speeches on the other side of the road.
Police did not allow enough room for people to demonstrate, so people had no choice, but to have the speeches just outside the Greek Embassy. No idea, why the police did not place a cordon on half the road to enable a peaceful demonstration to happen.
