WOODLAND CAMP EVICTION. BALCOMBE COMMUNITY PROTECTION CAMP 21082013
19/08/2013 Police tactic of “not my responsibility”.
DTG19082013 0620 hours. Protectors camping in the woods encounter police. They were woken up in the early hours by police searching for weapons and materials that can supposedly be used against razor wire (illegal to use, but Cuadrilla can just pay the fine).
The police were more inclined to protect the legal interests of the corporation fracking the land, compared to the legal interests of the people living on the land. A net bundled in the forest was a supposed threat to wildlife compared to poisonous chemicals pumped into the water supply.
Section 6 of the Criminal Law Act 1977 which protects the rights of occupiers of properties.
21/08/2013 UPDATE FOR THE MORNING.
EVICTION OF THE WOODLAND CAMP. SECTION 61. Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994.
Section 61 is used against Travelers. This is a Community Protection Camp.
