This weekend saw the celebration of one week of occupation in support of Battersea’s adventure playground:

Earlier, Wandsworth Council took a survey to determine what people wanted to do with the playground. It then went ahead and chose the most unpopular option, one that almost 9 out of 10 parents and carers had answered “No” to:

Meanwhile in Barnet, councillor Robert Rams announced that a charity supporting voluntary organisations in the borough, would be licensed to take charge of the occupied Friern Barnet Library:

Said charity responded with a statement that it had no intention of running the library, this being outside its remit. The community appeared to be doing an excellent job of running it anyway. Read about these and other listening failures as reported by a local resident:

“It’s the action, not the fruit of the action, that’s important. You have to do the right thing. It may not be in your power, may not be in your time, that there’ll be any fruit. But that doesn’t mean you stop doing the right thing. You may never know what results come from your action. But if you do nothing, there will be no result.” – Gandhi
