#OccupyLSX – Let's do this!

Occupy the London Stock Exchange
15th October
12pm
St Paul’s Cathedral

The words ‘corporate greed’ ring through the speeches and banners of protests across the globe. After huge bail-outs and in the face of unemployment, privatisation and austerity we still see profits for the rich on the increase. But we are the 99%, and on October 15th our voice unites across gender and race, across borders and continents as we call for equality and justice for all.

In London we will occupy the stock exchange. Reclaiming space in the face of the financial system and using it to voice ideas for how we can work towards a better future. A future free from austerity, growing inequality, unemployment, tax injustice and a political elite who ignores its citizens, and work towards concrete demands to be met.

Assemble in front of St Pauls Cathedral at Midday – please try to be on time and not early or late. When you are there be ready and attentive. Make sure to follow @OccupyLSX on twitter for updates on the day.

Try to come with a friend or group of friends. If you are thinking of staying for a while bring plenty of food and water, wrap up warm and you may want to bring tents and a sleeping bag.

Bring your energy and excitement, and be ready to create a better world!

  1. Hmmmm I’m coming down on the coach from coventry, I plan to stay till monday but I won’t be arriving till about 5, Where will everyone be then? Sorry I couldn’t make it before but this was the cheapest time… Anyway better late than never ay?

    • Hey Barry, are you on the facebook group or occupybritain.co.uk? If so, my name is Thomas Eltwatto on both of those, message me and we can exchange phone numbers. I’ll be there about 10am so I’ll be able to tell you where we are. Travelling from Birmingham myself on the Megabus. Hope to hear from you!

      • can’t seem to get on occupy britain, my e mail is b.retmanski [at] yahoo.co.uk… Look forward to seeing you there.

  2. I am not in the UK, but I hope you are successful in this. I am so tired of the abuses of the rich.

  3. Protesting outside the Stock Exchange is, imho pointless, suggest Canary Wharf or Peterborough Court 133 Fleet Street London EC4A 2BB the home of Goldman Sachs. Remember, honest pension funds and investors need the stock exchange, they don’t need Goldman Sachs or any of the socially useless investment banks.

    • How do you suggest we set up a long term occupation at either of those places?

  4. Thanks dude, sorry for the late reply, thats much appreciated. I don’t use facebook, they monitor you and even track your browsing when you’re not logged in! Anyway, yeah i’m on occupy britain, my name on there is just barry… But i’ll look you up on there now and see if i can add you. Thanks again.

    • the people have nothing to hide from Big Brother…..being Transparent and Fearless in the open will bring more to the Occupy Cause 🙂

  5. Have y’all seen this? BNY is the largest clearing bank in the world, with over a trillion dollars in reserves, and they’ve just been caught engaged in a decades-long theft from their customers (a lot of pension funds, among many others):

In a King World News exclusive interview, the man who brought down Bernie Madoff’s $65 billion Ponzi scheme informed KWN, “Bank of New York is going to go down, Eric. Between Bank of New York Mellon and State Street, these two institutions have stolen between $6 to $10 billion from tens of millions of Americans retirement savings accounts. It’s been a hell of a crime spree for the bank, but now they are being brought to justice.”

Harry Markopolos has lead the team that spearheaded this investigation from the beginning. Harry and his team were the first to expose this fraud. Markopolos also told KWN, “The New York Attorney General filed suit on Tuesday (against Bank of New York Mellon) for stealing money from pension funds on currency transactions. This theft has been from tens of millions of Americans, policemen, firemen, librarians, municipal workers, judges and the list goes on and on and they’ve been doing it for decades.

    • There was an ex policeman just yesterday that stole 300 million of tax money… He set up a fake business and claimed the tax back… This kind of thing goes on all the time! Imagine giving criminals power! Now all of a sudden violence and theft is great! But only if they do it! Because authorities are the definition of virtue!… There are literally thousands of ways to show the government is corrupt and unjust! I’ve still yet to see a good argument for it… I advise everyone to listen to stefan molyneux, everything will click into place!

  6. Good luck to you all!

    I wish I could be there…..

  7. hi everyone

i have also heard about another 15th october demonstration, but this one in Hyde Park, at 2pm.
to be honest, now i am confused about which one to join… can somebody explain a little more about both these initiatives? (actually, if you click on the “October 15th” link in the text above you’ll be directed to the Hyde Park one….)

    cheers
    and see you all there
    j

  8. Perhaps that is where the march is ending up? To be honest I don’t think you’re going to find any difference at any of the occupations, there will be a broad mix of ideals and ideas at all of them, the important thing is you’re coming! I’m not going to get there till later, but to be honest i’m not really going to protest, i’m going there to share ideas with some hopefully open minded people.

  9. last time the anachists were in the city they got kettled, do’em again I say

  10. Great post, I enjoy taking my boys camping.

  11. So i suppose the way we go about things is by using force yeah? I mean of course that’s the civilised thing to do!… Tell me something, if the government is so good at keeping you safe and making decisions for you, why don’t we take it further? Why don’t you let the government tell you who to marry? Or what your job will be? Or what your religion will be?… Why go about it half cocked?

Why would you be so opposed to different ideas? If someone has a different view that you have they should be rounded up?… One day your violence and inability to accept different opinions will be looked upon as racism is, small minded, uneducated and quite frankly pretty damn sad.

  12. Will there be caek?

  13. Different people have voiced different reasons for attending the event. I work in investment banking since 2002 and my reason for attending is based on my insight into how banks, large corporations and “magic circle” law firms operate in the greatest secrecy, to expertly control the little we know about their activities and the extent of their involvement within our governments. It has a similar dynamic to that of the relationship between politicians and News International, except that while the media seek to control how we believe and think, banks and corporations seek to control our livelihood and everything else. I am not again capitalism, I am however against unfair distribution of wealth; the failure of our government to bring to book bankers whose decisions have contributed to the empoverishment of the present and next generation; I am against the persistent arrogance demonstrated by the banks by not taking genuine steps for change but testing instead the mettle of the Brtish public and a weakened political establishment; I am the willful use of police force against democratic protest.

  14. You’re not the 99%. You’re just a bunch of stoners.

    • Funny how the ‘stoners’ are the ones trying to actually do something to change the system. The rest of the 99% are doing nothing of practical use to address the situation. How on earth would stopping dole cure the corrupt financial and political system that is defrauding you on a scale far greater than welfare benefits? Grow up kidda
