On the 11th of October 2014 join the decentralised European day of action to stop TTIP, CETA & TiSA!

May we interest you in helping us organize it?

On the 6th September, a great turn out of about 30 people turned up to the NoTTIP planning meeting for the De-Centralised European Day of Action in Stockwell.

This Action Day is part of a larger campaign to stop TTIP dead in its tracks. Last month 6 working groups were formed, however it seems the Outreach and Comms working groups were the only ones who did not go on holiday in August! They reported back on their month long achievments:

Outreach : “Our completed achievements involve leafleting farmers markets and the Nottinghill Carnival. Our on going work involves 3 universities, the British Medical Association, the National Federation of Parks and Green Spaces, Waitrose, various food groups and a bicycle shop! We are working on a NO TTIP ZONE initiative…..”

europe-uk-wide-ttipComms : ‘National day of action’ section now ‘11 Oct Day of Action’ – still need to correct broken/old links.
‘About TTIP’ section text updated – need to link updated text to new day of action page.
‘Join our network’ section removed – still need to replace link in footer with one to the facebook forum.
‘Events/Meetings’ section added – need to fix link to Global Health lecture.

MOVING FORWARD

Ideas for the day hovered in the room, like seagulls do on the beach when you finally sit down to devour your fish and chips. None actually went in for the kill.

Two destinations were considered most popular.

Concern over the Global FrackDown day being on the same day was expressed. Most of the NoTTIP participants are up for amalgamating the two issues. The greatest concern with amalgamation is the  muddling up of the message for the mono-brained mainstream media whose ability to put the message of all recent demonstrations into any larger neo-liberal, anti-democratic context is totally compromised.

Our media is context-challenged.

There are two meetings planned to keep up the organization of this day which is for the most part, activist driven at this moment in time. What this means is that we need all the help we can get!
