Hello all:
I was checking the ”How to get involved page” and realised that it’s linked to the OccupyLSX twitter, not the OccupyLondon?
Changed it now.
Plus also added the facebook pages to OccupyLSX and OL. Added the WG pages: EEE, Welfare, RDWG and ONN. -
occupynomads added the event Occupy Bilderberg to Occupy Nomads. 3 weeks, 3 days ago

grow heathrow has asked to have a link to their website from our homepage just like the diggers have. Are there any objections? I would love to see the list of groups there grow and grow over time! I think though it’s fair enough to ask them to do the same on their website

Any objections if I make Clive Menzies and John Sinha Authors too?

Any objection if I make Liam of the Occupy Tours ”author” so he can post articles and events without us having to moderate them?

Any objections if I put this as a banner for the website for this week?

I think that’s loads better
Couple of comments: Could we have ’contact us’ as a title in the top line menu? That’s where I’d look for it and be frustrated to not find it.
Perhaps ’contact us’ could also be one of the grey buttons instead of all the various contacts being on the front page?

So I have worked a bit more on the layout:
http://646576.occupylondon.org.uk
A few comments:
- I have got rid of some of the “white” above the news so it is closer to the top.
- I still haven’t worked out the issues with twitter
- I have made the part of text visible a bit longer so that you can read more before clicking on it.
- a general…[Read more] -

Um, not wanting to be negative but I don’t really like it. But perhaps if you explain the thinking behind it I might ‘get it’?
Reasons for not liking it on first-look:
*dark buttons in centre look ugly & more or less but not quite repeat the headings/menus at the top – which is unnecessary & confusing.
*Hardly any actual content is visible…[Read more]-
Thanks for your comments.
The main thing that I wanted to show was the idea of putting the images for the media platforms on a column on the right, rather then how we have it now. That column could then be extended with other images that take you to blogs of other groups and people.
*I agree the dark buttons don’t work there, so I will move…[Read more]-
Thanks for explaining a bit more.
Glad we all agree the buttons aren’t good in the middle
Do we need these buttons at all given that they repeat what’s in the headings across the top? I guess like Obi said they could be further down… so that once you’ve scrolled down you don’t have to scroll back up to move to a different page?As far…[Read more]

Had another look… It seems to me that much of what is currently on the front page in the right-hand column is unneccessary or would be better in a diferent place. So, there’s contact details – these would be better in a ‘contact us’ heading in the top row. There’s a list of events – but these are also accessible via the events heading. If we…[Read more]

Would there be any objections for me in changing the layout to something like this?
Comments are welcome. -

Dear All,
I personally haven’t got very far with my tasks, but there were many things we were not able to get through at the last meeting, so we decided to organise another one for next week. Homepage and Newsletter being the main topics.
Please show you preference here for time and day:

I’ve updated the basic GA page. I haven’t yet gone into the links to check whether they need updating. I haven’t radically changed the structure or wording, have just removed a couple of outdated bits and added a couple of details I felt were missing. And attempted to make it feel a little friendlier & less formal. Comments welcome.

Definitely go for it and ask for reciprocal link! I’d want to be fairly choosy about who we swap links with, but Grow Heathrow get double thumbs-up from me
Do you think we need to make a distinction from things that have formed after OccupyLsx or by people who were involved in it, and other independent groups/campaigns etc? Or not worry too much about it now?
My criteria would probably be that it’s less about whether something was set up before or after OLSX and more about what it is… in the case of Diggers and Grow Heathrow, they’re both about occupying space and promoting community over commerce. Battersea Playground and FB People’s Library were/are also about preserving community and occupying…[Read more]
