Press releases are coming off the Homepage. I think that they should go where press releases should go (not facing the public). I’m also going to start being stricter on what categories people tag their posts with. The scattergun approach isn’t the best way to target content.

I’m wouldn’t do that with press releases. This was not agreed at all in the meeting. Ro
Ok… I won’t do it straight away…
Could you make an argument for why they should remain on the homepage? As I said yesterday, no other organisation I’ve seen releases press statements on their homepage. There’s usually a press section on a website.
I’d also point out it was never agreed by all to put press releases on the homepage, so I’m not sure why that should be assumed to be the standard practice.
Shan’t do anything unlss there is an agreement.
Jack can you be more precise about exactly which posts you would prefer not to see on the homepage and why.
”press releases”is a bit to generic for me.
Press releases have been there since the beginning when there was an agreement to put them on the website I’m afraid as a means to getting the news out about the upcoming Occupy the London Stock Exchange occupation! Many website do have these on the front, either called press releases or simply news. As said in meeting, they have often fulfilled two roles when there was no other content, being written for both media and people directly. To not included them could leave us at time with a vacuum of information. Also isn’t it good to be transparent, and when was it decided that if the ’industry’ does something X way, that we should do the same?
Regarding Categories. I actually think we could be using tags for ”topics” while the categories could be used simply as tools to structure the website.
