How the US/EU Trade Agreement (TTIP) will Impact the Environment – StopTTIP
The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) is a corporate bill of rights. Corporations want to use it to sue governments for bans on fracking. Corporations want to drill thousands of fracking wells across the UK, which will lead to pollution of local water supplies and drive up carbon emissions.
Lobbyists from energy companies are also pushing for negotiators to scrap European standards that ban the import of fuels such as tar sands oil from Canada.
Tar sands oil exploitation is one of the world’s most polluting processes. ‘Extreme energy’ extraction put local communities and our entire climate at risk.
