The ongoing crisis: the refugee crisis in Northern France and Greece

The refugee crisis, spanning Europe, Africa and the Middle East, is far from over. Since the demolition of the Calais refugee camp known as the ‘Jungle’, media coverage of the crisis across the UK has dropped, but the work is far from over.

Organisations, such as Help Refugees, Refugee Community Kitchen, Utopia 56 and the Refugee Info Bus, are still working tirelessly in Northern France to support the hundreds of refugees that are facing a fearful winter, with no shelter, no protection and constant abuse by the French riot police, the CRS.

To give an insight into the current situation, a panel discussion with a variety of volunteers will cover the day to day life of Calais as we speak, the different roles that volunteer organisations are playing in the area and what you can do to help, including a Q & A at the end.

There is no fee for this event; instead we would ask if you can bring either:
-a pair of black men’s gloves
-a warm men’s hat
-a warm men’s scarf
which will be collected and sent straight to Calais to support the hundreds of refugees sleeping rough this winter.

There will be a Choose Love stand, and opportunities to donate as well, with the money going to Help Refugees.
