Reclaim the Power gathering: Where do we hold our August action camp?

First and foremost, make sure you’ve got the dates on your diary for the 2nd Reclaim the Power camp. From the 14th-20th August, we hope you’ll join us in a week of education, training, and taking direct action against extreme energy.

But… we still need to decide where the camp will be held and who we will be targeting!

Come along to our final planning gathering on the 19th-20th July, at Grow Heathrow, to help make this exciting decision.

If you’ve got a proposal in advance for where the camp should be email it to (further details about this below)

The gathering will also be an opportunity to get involved with one of our many working groups, as well as learning some skills that should prove useful in August.

Grow Heathrow is a sustainable community living project that launched in 2010 to resist the construction of the third runway. Really great directions to the site can be found here:

Vegan food will be provided and participants are asked to bring a tent so they can camp in the grounds of the project.

Furthermore, we promise a fun and inclusive social on the Saturday evening.

If you have any accessibility needs please do email so we can do our utmost to address these in advance.

The site is family friendly, but if you have any questions on advance please also email

The gathering begins at 11:30pm on Saturday and concludes at 5pm on Sunday. There is no cost to take part but you may like to make a donation to cover the cost of food. Reclaim the Power will make a separate donation to the Grow Heathrow project.

If you have a proposal for where Reclaim the Power should go and who we should target we’d love to hear it. Please send us your ideas to before the 16th July. We will then circulate all proposals in advance of the gathering via our email list.

We have already agreed we will be using the camp fight extreme energy, and that the event will include a combination of direct action, movement building, and education. However, all ideas within these parameters are welcome and encouraged!

To help us make an effective decision, please include in your proposal:
-Attitudes and enthusiasm of community and activist groups who are local to your proposed location.
-Some ideas about how accessible possible sites are in terms of public and road transport.
-What politically relevant activities will (or might) be taking place during the dates of the camp.
