Random act of kindness Wednesday 17th April 2013- a reaction in unity.
Date(s) - 17/04/2013
This is an idea of a friend. Margaret Thatcher’s death has once again split the country and friend has fallen out with friend over what should be said or done to mark it, whether throw a party, protest or sympathise… Here is a way we can really show that we stand against the blame culture, the persecution of the poor, the out of work, the disabled… not sure what I am going to do yet, but I am thinking about it and open to ideas
Maybe those who really, REALLY think the policies of Thatcherism were horrible, maybe we should think of some way yo show our distaste, at the same time to show what CARE is especially on the day of her funeral
Perhaps offer the homeless a sit-down breakfast?
Launch a group called Compassion?
Make a donation to charity?
Buy a copy of The Big Issue?
Volunteer in a soup kitchen?
Donate to a food bank?
Buy a homeless person a burger?
Write to Glenda Jackson, and try to re-assert a politics (hate the word) LED by compassion for the young, the old, the sick, the infirm, the disabled, the poor, those overseas who are suffering.
Whatever your idea, you are invited to take part in a Random Act of Kindness on Wednesday 17th April 2013, it doesn’t have to be the start of something big, it just has to be somethingl, a paying forward because we care, not because of something we want to get out of it.
Add your name to the list of those attending and share what you are going to do and share this event with your friends and family. We don’t do this to honour her, we do it because it is right, because she sowed only bitterness and division and because as a nation, we are better than that.
