Protest #17 Romania trezeste-te! Save Rosia Montana, Pungesti, democracy, transparency, free speech in Romania Public
Date(s) - 15/12/2013
2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Protest #17 solidarity with Save Rosia Montana campaign, illegal fracking and human right abuses in Pungesti, also raising awareness of how far corruption has gone in Romania (superimunity and criminalising free speech)
The protest will illustrate the failure of democracy in Romania, by showcasing the recent crises in Rosia Montana, Pungesti and within the Romanian establishment. It will also present alternatives, solutions, ideas, as imagined by us and the passersby.
1) Awards ceremony for the Romanian Autumn (with a dash of irony – to include awards for Gold’s miners, Riot police, politicians as well as Locals and Eco-anarchists)
2) Interactive map (canvas) of Romania (full of fracking wells, etc etc) – where protesters and passersby create a ‘new’ Romania.
Please join us for a celebration of our 17 consecutive protests and the growing movement in London campaigning to save Rosia Montana and protect Romania’s people & nature from fracking and corruption spanning two decades.
This will be the last Sunday/Trafalgar Square/large scale protest THIS YEAR (due to many people traveling during the holidays). Public and campaigning activities will continue until a major shift will be achieved. They will resume at the beginning of January.
