Occupy London General Assembly: SSP implementation and upcoming actions
Date(s) - 22/03/2013
7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Royal Festival Hall
7:00 – 8:30 pm
Facilitator will read out OL’s SSP (http://occupylondon.org.uk/about/statements/safer-space-policy).
The background of the recent case will be given, along with a summary of points made on GS.
Mark’s proposal for SSP implementation (see below) will be read out.
Mark’s proposal for SSP implementation:
Generalised ban for serial violators of OL’s SSP. Ban includes removal from groupspaces forum and no input in OL general assemblies (making proposals, blocking, finance requests etc.). Ban can be temporary (up for revision) or permanent. “Serial” needs to be defined (more than two? more than three?).
Additional points will be taken.
Group break-out (20 minutes).
Group feedback will be followed by a consensus test for the proposal.
The session will end with a brief overview of future directions for resolving group conflict (Julie’s recommendations).
Please note that diminished responsibility, welfare, rehabilitiation etc. issues will be discussed at a separate assembly. This is an assembly dedicated to protecting victims of SSP abuse via specific methods for implementing the policy.
Structures described by Starhawk for addressing wrongdoing (standing ethics committee, elders circle and so on) can also be discussed at a future GA.
8:30 – 9:00 pm
Upcoming actions – open floor.
