Despite the coalition’s pledge not to subsidise nuclear power, the forthcoming Energy Bill, due to be published before the end of November, is likely to see a U-turn.
The nuclear industry already represents a massive burden to the taxpayer, who has to foot the bill for long-term waste management and decommissioning.
The new subsidy framework being proposed risks jeopardising the future development of renewable energy technologies and energy saving initiatives.
