LCAPSV launch event: Policing the Police – Organising Communities to Stop Police Violence. We will be doing this in conjunction with United Families and Friends Campaign (UFFC). This will take place at Room 3A, University of London Union Building, Malet Street, London WC1E 7HY. We will have a film screening, discussion about police and state violence and a speak-out. Facebook event:
This is the launch event of London Campaign Against Police and State Violence
Supported by United Families and Friends Campaign (UFFC) and South London Anti-Fascists. This is in part a build-up event to the UFFC Stop Deaths in Custody Procession 2013: https://www.facebook.com/events/212395542259792/
Our campaign has been started by the families of the victims of police brutality. It appears since the murder of Lee Rigby some elements of the Metropolitan Police have declared open season on young men of African descent.
Though this is not new, our response is. We won’t wait for another death, another fatal blow to claim more lives. We are organising across London and we invite all who have been affected by police brutality to join us.
We will show the 50 minute film: Who Polices The Police by Ken Fero followed by a discussion about how as a London campaign we are doing that. There will also be a 30 minute speak-out where we will encourage victims and their families to talk about their experiences and make appeals for assistance.
We have no budget but we will do our best to provide food, the capacity of the room is 80 but if demand exceeds that we will look upgrading our venue.
