Ken Loach on the alternative to austerity: Left Unity public meeting

Award-winning film director Ken Loach will be speaking at Balham’s Chestnut Grove Academy on Monday June 16.

The public meeting is being held by the Wandsworth and Merton branch of Left Unity, the new political party which Loach helped set up in November.

Loach will speak out against the cuts to public services and the NHS. He will argue that if Labour is not prepared to provide an effective opposition to the government’s austerity programme, people need to join Left Unity to find an alternative.

Ken Loach says: “We need policies that reject Tory cuts, regenerate the economy and improve the lives of ordinary people. We are not getting this from Labour.”

Loach will be joined by Micheline Mason, a disability rights activist and organiser of Wandsworth and Merton Left Unity, and Salman Shaheen, a journalist and Principal Speaker of Left Unity.

The meeting is free to attend and there will be a Q&A for members of the public to put questions to Ken Loach and the other speakers.

Please come and invite your friends.
