Symbolic publicity stunt to commemorate San Martin Day – 6.30pm on Monday 14th August 2017
The Argentina Solidarity Campaign is organising a publicity stunt outside Jose de San Martin’s old home in London to symbolise and oppose Argentina’s loss of independence under the current government. For instance the International Monetary Fund have been invited back to the country to monitor fiscal and monetary policy, North American vulture funds that were holding Argentina to ransom and threatened to default their economy were paid US $15 billion and the police brutally repressing The Mapuche People in places like Lof Cushamen in Patagonia in order to support foreign corporations like Benetton which brought up their ancestral lands against the wishes of the Mapuche communities.
Please join us at the nearby Volunteer Pub, 245-247 Baker Street, London, NW1 6XE (a few doors away from the Beatles Store and Sherlock Holmes Museum) at 6.30pm that day http://www.thevolunteernw1.co.uk/
We will briefly discuss some Campaign coordination in our monthly “assembly” before walking a minute down the road to San Martin’s old home where we will take a photo of all of us outside it, which we will use in a press release. All welcome, bring friends, Argentinian flags and solidarity messages!
