Unite the Union Headquarters
- The resistance against austerity across Europe today
- Report from Alter-Summit
- The next steps for solidarity across Europe
As thousands of people flock from across Britain to the People’s Assembly against Austerity on Saturday 22 June, we will also be joined by campaigners and activists from across Europe. Huge struggles are taking place across the continent against the depredations of austerity and neo-liberalism. On the same weekend that protests spread across Turkey, Portugal witnessed its biggest demonstrations in decades. So we are taking the opportunity to host a European Assembly against Austerity on 23rd June to bring together experiences of the struggle across the continent and plan the next steps in our work together. In association with the People’s Assembly and the Greece Solidarity Campaign, the European Assembly on 23 June will publicise, analyse and support these struggles and will also report on the Alter Summit which took place in Athens on the 7 & 8 June (see press release attached). As well as being the first assessment of the impact of the Alter Summit, the European assembly will also discuss and plan the next steps forward in the struggles across Europe.
The European Assembly will take place at Unite the Union Headquarters, 128 Theobald’s Road, Holborn, London, WC1X 8TN from 12 to 5pm. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to confirm your attendance.
