Even more ways to poison the water supply.
The fight against our right to live with clean air, land and water is intensifying. These are even worse than what the Frack Free groups have been fighting against, these are Coal Bed Methane extraction and Underground Coal Gasification.
With the connivance of the government, local and national, these corporations want to make profits, while polluting the air, soil and poisoning the water supply. If the scheme fails, the local community ends up paying the bill. When those wells leak, insurance will not cover the costs and the clean up will be on the backs of the community again.
“The purpose of this report is to advise Cabinet of the status of the Coal Bed Methane (CBM) project and to recommend that the project does not progress further for the foreseeable future, as it has been determined that it failed to pass a key gateway [..] Using specialist advice we have determined that the project is currently commercially unviable due to the estimated current costs of extraction and distribution.”
The other problem we face, are the activists protecting our environment, being threatened with litigation; by these terrorist corporations. Mel Kelly, a tireless campaigner in Scotland spreading awareness on the dangerous risks of underground coal gasification, has been sent a cease and desist letter by the terrorist corporation Five Quarter. They felt threatened, due to a report she wrote to teach people. Theft of Austerity Britain’s Coal
If a terrorist organisation, call it Al Qaeda, had set up an Unconventional Gas Extraction company to poison the land, as long as they claim that it would bring jobs and profit, I’m sure the American and British governments would not complain about their activities. The government legislation would be used in their favour. Plus the police would be used to protect their operation against any Community Protection Camps; set up by the NIMBYs and their supporters.
The UK is to become the global guinea-pig for Underground Coal Gasification (UCG) – that’s setting fire to coal underground to make synthetic gas if you didn’t know. 24 licences have been sold next to major UK cities – containing several billion tonnes of coal between them.
PLEASE NOTE: Even after the 200 groups campaigning against Fracking in this country is successful, the Government, whether the ConDems or Labour, will most likely be signing the TTIP (Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership). This Free Trade Agreement has a clause called ISDS (Investor State Dispute Settlement) that will allow corporations to sue sovereign governments for loss of profits. The “Free” means freedom for corporations to rape the world, and the taxpayers pay for the privilege.
