Chase Farm Hospital Attempted Occupation

Chase Hospital was occupied after a march and rally on Saturday [2/2/13] by a coalition of local groups and campaigns. The occupation was the next step in a six year campaign to stop hospital closures. Roughly six to eight people are now peacefully occupying the hospital’s clock tower. The occupation was subsequently removed by security and the police around 10pm that evening.

The attempted occupation was in response to:

the closure of the patient advice and liaison department

– the mass sacking of the administration workers

– the closure of part of the opthamology clinic

– the closure of four wards in the highland wing

– and the imminent closure of the A & E department and maternity department
