BARTON MOSS UPDATE FROM BIFF AND TIM.
BY Tim Williams
Police arresting a Legal Observer.
Below is a Barton Moss Protection Camp update from BIFF and Tim Williams, Legal Observer and Protector. They are in Barton Moss, Salford, Greater Manchester.
Update 9th December 2013. Monday evening Barton Moss Protection Camp:
“All bar one of our protectors has been released and are now in safe houses. One has refused the erroneous bail conditions. Not only were the arrests ridiculous, the police tactics at the station were worse. Arrestees were refused lawyers and phone calls and were told they would have to pay for them.
The police then tried to pressure them into taking a caution (admitting guilt without the police having to provide evidence to court).” ~BIFF.
Update Wednesday, from Tim, Legal Observer and Protector.
“Well that was a drama – snatched for walking on a public footpath too slowly!! No access to solicitors or phone calls, I was offered a caution accepted it. Back in the cell a voice in my head said ‘that’s not very Mandela of you to give in’, so I regretted it, then they said it was withdrawn, so I decided to stay overnight and appear before the magistrate in the morning.
He gave me condition-free bail so I am now back at the protest and all is well. Thanks for all the messages, it’s empowering to know you are out there as we fight to save this land from madness and greed. There are no leaders there is no centre this movement flows as it will under grace least that’s how it seems to me. We are all activists now!
It’s cold tonight but I am happy because I am who I am and doing what I must do, that is a great feeling. Hope some day you will join us if you haven’t already. Loving the Land.”
