The Riot Police in Wukan has learnt kettling probably from Met. Now instead of removing Wukan from search engine or Chinese twitter, they should do what City of London Police has done against peaceful protestors by putting Wukan village on the Terrorist list alongside of Al Qaeda.

Riot police even look the same, in Greece, Oakland, New York, Wukan, Egypt ... No wonder Times has named "protestors" as person of the year for 2011. All these riot police are paid for by the 99%, yet they take orders from the 1%.

Maybe because there are no protestors on site, they're either in Starbucks or they don't exist. And as far as I know, now that Paternoster is publicly accessible there has been no attempt to protest directly outside the LSE.

Where's the courage of Occupy's convictions?

It's not a protest. It's an organised whinge. The only person that'll come out of this farce looking good is the old boy in the hi-vis jacket tirelessly cleaning up the remaining campers rubbish every day, while they're off doing everything but protest (Sleeping for the most part).

Also, what on Earth has a Chinese village got to do with the Occupy Movement. Or is just an opportunity to whinge about something else.

Stop creating problems and start finding some coherent solutions. To be honest maybe start with one clearly defined aim and focus on it. Rather than general fluff like 'the system is unsustainable', say 'we need to make a sustainable system', then explain what Occupy's definition of sustainable is (such as whether it's ecocentric or anthropocentric), and what policies or practices you would encourage to meet this defined sustainability. And perhaps try learning both sides of the argument, that way it's far less embarassing when someone who has gone to the bother tears your ideas to pieces (and I'll think you'll find it's standard academic practice to view both sides, you can only pursue a one-sided perspective once you've shown you can understand how to critically analyse something, and you can provide counter argument to the alternatives).

If you have no intention of moving at least pull your finger out and actually do something. It's embarassing.

PS. Meewan, go and Occupy China if that's your bag, stop further diluting the already hazy Occupy London agenda. They're struggling as it is.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/china/8954315/Inside-Wukan-the-Chinese-village-that-fought-back.html#disqus_thread

Looking from the photo, these villagers in China may have more choices as to how to protest than we have in the UK - David Cameron said "I think protesting is something you, on the whole, should do on two feet". Shall we send call me Dave to talk some sense into WuKan's ignorant villagers?

If the lands are the property of the Government in China, why have the local officials not applied for an eviction order, like the Basildon Council or the City of London has done to evict the Dale Farm and the Occupy movements? I am sure the Chinese Judiciary, if they have one, will be just as obliging as the Judiciary in the UK.

These villagers have no right to be on the land they do not own, the square they are sitting down on do not belong to them. Only if their local official have plastered posters of the Court Order all over the village square banning them from entering into it, like the London Stock Exchange did with Paternoster Square. None of them will be in the square, never mind sitting on it.

Over all, I will say the Wukan villagers have fared better - not a single protester has manage to enter Paternoster Square where London Stock Exchange locates to protest , while thousands have not just entered but actually have sat down on Wukan village square

Enough is Enough

Please sing a song for the 20,000 Chinese Villagers of WuKan, the riot police are blockading the village, hoping to starve them to submission, after they fought the riot police and kept them from enter the village. The protest started after the local officials selling off the land in the village to the developers while the villagers wanted to keep it to grow vegetables. Police arrested in a restaurant, 13 leaders who were elected by the villagers who were negotiating with the officials and it ended up with one of the leaders died in police custody.
