As someone who works at Canary Wharf, I've never mistook the guards for coppers, especially as they have security officer and canary wharf on their uniforms.

Guilty consciouses?

Meet at the main exit from the jubilee line tube. The location is accurately marked on the UK Uncut website:
http://www.ukuncut.org.uk/actions/780

It is a pedestrianized area which I think is called 'Banker's Plaza' where there are various restaurants (Carluccio's etc). It's the bit with all the clocks (see picture: http://www.artofthestate.co.uk/london_photos/Canary_Wharf_Clock.htm)

If you've come by tube, it's the obvious place.

If you've come by DLR, just follow the signs for Canary Wharf tube - you walk through the shopping centre and then come out onto Banker's Plaza. It's a two minute walk.

"I still don’t quite understand how the area can apparently have its own private security dressed so like police to any casual observer, while being served by the public transport system (and bailed out by govt funds in many cases!)."

Yes, that really skin annoys me. There is a part of that ivory tower complex that still public land, not sure where but was told it was a foot bridge over some water.

I went along to this last time and I thought the two guys did a great job, the tour was informative about the buildings and the financial shenanigans/frauds of the companies ensconced in them, some of it very dark of course but with humour thrown in.

I still don't quite understand how the area can apparently have its own private security dressed so like police to any casual observer, while being served by the public transport system (and bailed out by govt funds in many cases!).

Might be worth noting the meeting point is outside the tube not the nearby DLR. And I believe there's an east & a west exit from canary wharf tube so maybe someone will confirm which they'll be in front of.
