Friday @ Bank of Ideas. End of the NHS as we know it? Andrew Lansley’s Health Bill with Colin Leys
- Date/Time: 6-7.30pm Friday 9th December 2011
- Location: Bank of Ideas
A discussion to outline the essential elements of the Bill, and show why it will lead to a full healthcare market; and how that market will mean low-quality (by today’s standards) health care, with limited cover, for most people, and a dependence on private medical insurance for good health care for those who can afford it.
Colin Leys is a retired professor of political studies at Queen’s University, Canada, and currently an honorary professor at Goldsmiths, University of London. His books include Market-Driven Politics: Neoliberal Democracy and the Public Interest (2001), and (with Stewart Player) The Plot Against the NHS (2011).
