ANY EXTENSION TO CUADRILLA PLANNING PERMISSION LEGALLY FLAWED.
Shale: Govt aims to reform planning rules as Cuadrilla forced to withdraw drilling application

This Torygraph article, in the Finance section, explains what happened yesterday at #Balcombe very well. It explains how the planning application retreat and the Govt consultation announced yesterday are *totally* linked. The original 2010 planning permission at Balcombe was flawed as it only included land where the vertical drilling takes place, not the horizontal drilling. Friends of the Earth said any extension to the permission would therefore be legally flawed (and challengeable). So the very same day the compliant Govt announce they are going to remove the obligation to notify people who live above horizontal drilling from planning law!
