7pm today at the Bank of Ideas – Critical thinking – Exploring beliefs promoted by politicians, media & public institutions
As part of the Occupy London Tent City University new Free University initiative, today sees the beginning of the Critical Thinking course.
When: Commencing 7-9pm 12 January 2012; and every Thursday thereafter
Where: The Bank of Ideas – Room 2.08, 17-29 Sun Street, London EC2M 2PT
Details: Critical thinking – Truth, lies, mythology and reality. Exploring commonly held beliefs/perceptions promoted by politicians, media and public institutions.
If you are alarmed at the current economic turmoil, debt and austerity,
growing inequality, wars of aggression, infringement of civil liberties and
many other concerns expressed by the occupy movements, this course will
develop your understanding of the root causes. The course is aimed at
anyone keen to expand their knowledge of how the world works, identify
levers for real change and work on solutions.
The course is a collaborative, modular, evidence based, research project to
produce a referenced paper(s) for publication.
The initial planned modules are:
- Banking and monetary system
- Sub-prime crisis
- Wars of the 21st century
- Climate change
The nature of the project is such that additional modules may be identified
as we progress.
